SAINTS TAKE TWO SERIES FROM FAULKNER AND SHORTER
Dahlonega, Ga. – The 10th ranked North Georgia College & State University softball team swept 23rd ranked Faulkner University Friday afternoon and Shorter College Saturday afternoon to take four Southern States Athletic Conference games this past weekend. A strong seven inning pitching performance by senior starter Beth Willis (Williamson, Ga.) and a couple of RBI hits from junior first baseman Lara Seamon (Richfield Springs, N.Y.) and senior second baseman Annie Ball (Marietta, Ga.) gave the Saints a 2-0 win in the first game of the double header. Willis went seven innings and allowed only three hits and three walks while striking out seven batters for her 12th win of the season.
Box Score In game two, North Georgia pounded out eight runs off of 11 hits to take the second game from Faulkner 8-1. All but two Saints had a hit, with sophomore designated player Bronwyn Miller (Woodstock, Ga.) leading the way after going three-for-four from the plate with two RBI's and one run scored. Freshman starter Rachel Bridges (Lexington, Ga.) and reliever Willis performed well on the hill, with Bridges picking up the win after allowing only one earned run off of two hits.
Box Score Outscoring the Lady Hawks 17-0 in the two games double header, North Georgia rolled through Rome with a 9-0 and 8-0 win Saturday afternoon. Junior shortstop Lynsey Thompson (Dacula, Ga.) went five-for-seven in the double header with three runs and four RBI's. Willis picked up another win and pitched her second no-hitter of the season in game one. She allowed only one SC batter to reach base on a walk as she sat down six of 15 Lady Hawks with strikeouts. Sophomore starter Danielle Rainey (Lawrenceville, Ga.) evened her record at 4-4 with a five inning outing in the second game. Rainey allowed only two hits while striking out six batters.
