| Monday, April 11, 2005 #10 SAINTS SWEEP LADY BARONS IN WEEKEND SERIES Mt. Vernon, Ga. – Winning the first game 9-0 and the second game 3-1, 10th ranked North Georgia College & State University improved to 29-12 overall and 17-1 in the Southern States Athletic Conference after defeating Brewton-Parker College (17-26, 5-14) in a softball double header over the weekend. Game 1 Junior first baseman Lara Seamon (Richfield Spring, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 with one run and three RBI's as the Saints defeated the Lady Barons 9-0 in game one. Eight of North Georgia's starters had hits in the game as the Saints scored multiple runs in the third, fourth, and fifth inning. Freshman center fielder Brittney Cobb (Oxford, Ga.) was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI along with freshman left fielder Michelle Brock (Loganville, Ga.) who went 2-for-3 from the plate with two runs scored. Senior starter Beth Willis (Williamson, Ga.) won her first game of the afternoon after pitching four strong innings and allowing only one hit and striking out eight batters. Freshman starting pitcher Meegan Wilmot (Daytona Beach, Fla.) took the loss after allowing seven earned runs off of eight hits in three and one-third of an inning.

Game 2 In a battle that came down to the final inning, the Saints pulled through for a 3-1 win over the Lady Barons in game two. BPC got on the board in the first inning after freshman left fielder Ashley Beecher (Hazlehurst, Ga.) doubled and later scored off of a double from sophomore third baseman Alease Connell (Nahunta, Ga.) to put the Lady Baron's up 1-0. North Georgia would tie the score in the sixth inning after junior shortstop Lynsey Thompson (Dacula, Ga.) singled in freshman right fielder Candace Shubert (Colbert, Ga.) to make it a 1-1 ball game. The Saints rallied in the next inning to score two runs, one off of a RBI double by sophomore catcher Brooke Kesler (Colbert, Ga.) and another double by Shubert to score an insurance run. Willis came into the game in the third inning and pitched four and two-thirds of an inning to pick up her second win of the day. Sophomore starter Keena Hallman (Dalton, Ga.) took the loss after pitching a complete game and allowing only three earned runs off of four hits. The Saints will play again today as they host Brenau University at 5:30 p.m. at the NGCSU Softball Complex. BPC is off until Wednesday when they play Faulkner University on the road at 2:00 p.m. CST.
