WILLIS AND THOMPSON NAMED TO NAIA
SOFTBALL ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

Decatur, Ala. – North Georgia College & State University senior Beth Willis and junior Lynsey Thompson were both named to the 2005 NAIA Softball All-Tournament team by officials at the conclusion of the tournament.

At the NAIA National Tournament, Willis was one of the top performers. She was ninth in the tournament in ERA (2.22), as well as third in innings pitched (41.0) and strikeouts (30).

Willis, a starting pitcher from Williamson, Ga., was also selected to the second team All-American this past week for her performance this season on the diamond.

Thompson, a shortstop from Dacula, Ga., was fifth overall in the tournament in hits (9) and RBIs (6) as well as second in total doubles (3) and ninth in total bastes (12).

Thompson was selected to the first team All-Region this season as well as a member of the All-Conference team.

North Georgia finished the season 45-18 overall and won the Southern States Athletic Conference regular season and tournament. The Saints also had their most successful run in the NAIA Softball Tournament as they finished 4-3 overall.
