SOFTBALL HOLDS EIGHTH SPOT IN FINAL NAIA RANKINGS
Dahlonega, Ga. – The top 10 remained the same and only one team fell out of the final ranking as the North Georgia College & State University softball team finishes the season ranked eighth in the nation.
The Saints participated in the NAIA Region XIII tournament this past week in which five of the six participating teams are ranked in the final poll. North Georgia won its first game against Faulkner University, but fell to third ranked University of Mobile and18th ranked Lee University. With a top 10 finish in the national poll, North Georgia looks to secure an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament beginning on May 20.
Region XIII opponent Thomas University finished as the top team in the nation with 10 first place votes. Houston Baptist claimed second place and two top votes and California Baptist finished right behind Mobile and grabbed one first place vote.
Lee University fell one spot to 18th in the final rating. The University of Mary grabbed the 25th spot in the final ranking with a 25-13 record and 19 points, edging out Brescia who had 13 points.
