NORTH GEORGIA SWEEPS PIEDMONT ON THE HARDCOURTS
Saints and Lady Saints blank the visitors from Demorest

Gainesville, GA – North Georgia picked up two big victories, defeating visiting Piedmont College 9-0 in tennis action at the Gainesville Parks & Recreation Thursday afternoon.

On the men's side a 6-0, 6-0 victory by Marijn Bal at #3 singles over Chris Leonardo sparked a 9-0 sweep by the Saints. In other singles action, Jacob Eastwood picked up a victory at #1 over David Gillispie 6-4, 6-1; at #2 Sam Moore defeated Joey Leonardo 6-0, 6-3; Gustavo Carballal defeated Michael Madden at #4 6-1, 6-1; Vlad Lumezeanu defeated Jake LeMaster 6-0, 6-2; and the sweep was completed by William Davis when he defeated Jordan Hubbard 6-4, 6-1.

In doubles action, the team of Eastwood and Carballal defeated Gillispie and Chris Leonardo 9-7; at #2 the team of Bal and Moore defeated Joey Leonardo and Madden 8-5; and at #3 the team of Lumezeanu and Davis defeated the team of Hubbard and Juno Schaueble 8-2 to close out the 9-0 score.

North Georgia (2-4, 0-2 PBC) returns to action Sunday on the road against USC Upstate.

Meanwhile, on the women's side, Lilia Tzvetanova picked up a victory at #1 singles over Mindy Pfeiffer 6-0, 6-0 to set the tone on the singles side for the Lady Saints. Katherine Harrison knocked off Marlene Morris 6-3, 6-1; Maria Dreaden picked up a victory at #3 with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Jenny Shane; Caitie Murphy defeated Stephanie Smith 6-0, 6-0; Cassie Martin defeated Tyler Baldonado 6-0, 6-2 at #5; and Jenny Bridges rounded out the singles action by defeating Katie Buice 6-0, 6-0 for the sweep.

In doubles action, the team of Tzvetanova and Dreaden defeated the team of Pfeiffer and Morris 8-1; at #2 Murphy and Harrison defeated Baldonado and Shane 8-0; and the sweep was concluded when Martin and Amey Kearns defeated Buice and Smith at #3, 8-2.

North Georgia (1-5, 0-2 PBC) returns to action Sunday on the road at nationally-ranked USC Upstate.
