NORTH GEORGIA FALLS TO PRESBYTERIAN ON THE ROAD
Saints fall 9-0, have chance to win three matches
CLINTON, S.C. – North Georgia College & State University fell to Presbyterian College in a pair of South Atlantic Region tennis matches here Sunday afternoon.
In men's action, the Saints lost 9-0 to 20th-ranked Presbyterian, but had a chance to win three singles matches near the end. At the number two position, Marijn Bal lost to Matthew Martin 7-5, 6-7 (5), 10-7 after being behind in the second set before forging the third-set 10-point tiebreaker. Bal's match was not the only one to go into a 10-point third set as Jake Eastwood forced the same scenario at the number four position. Eastwood fell to Mike Nicol 3-6, 6-1, 10-7 after losing the second set to force the third set tiebreaker. The Saints also had a chance to win a point at the number three position where Gustavo Carballal lost to Ruan Oliver 7-5, 6-4.
In the women's match, the Lady Saints fell to 34th-ranked Presbyterian College 8-1 in non-conference action. Lilia Tzuetanova won the lone point for North Georgia at number one singles when she defeated Catherine Bankhead 6-3, 6-2.
North Georgia returns to action on Monday against Limestone College on the road.
