#12 SPARTANS DEFEAT SAINTS 9-0

Dahlonega, Ga. - The 12th ranked USC Upstate men's tennis team defeated North Georgia College & State University to pick up a 9-0 victory in tennis action on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans won all three doubles matches to start things off and then won all six singles matches in straight sets. In doubles play, USCU's Diego Sist and Predrag Burmazovic defeated Vlad Lumezeanu and Gustavo Carballal 8-4 at No. 1, while Leandro Osorio and Sebastian Gonzales-Orbegoso defeated Alex Rodas and Michael Cooper 8-2 at No. 2. The Saints forfeited the third doubles match.

In singles play, Sist defeated Lumezeanu 6-1; 6-2 at No. 1, while Stefan Dumitrescu defeated Carballal 6-2; 6-2 in the No. 2 spot. Burmazovic defeated Cooper 6-0; 6-1 at No. 3, while Osorio blanked Rodas 6-0; 6-0 at No. 4. Gonzales-Orbegoso defeated Davis 6-1; 6-1 at No. 5, and a win via forfeit concluded the afternoon match.

The Saints will play again on Tuesday, March 21 against Piedmont College at 3:00 p.m. in Dahlonega. The Spartans will host conference opponent Francis Marion Saturday, March 18 at 1:00 p.m.
