LIONS DEFEAT SAINTS 6-3
Dahlonega, Ga. – The North Georgia College & State University men’s tennis team lost to Piedmont College 6-3 in their second contest of the season.

The Lions (5-3) took a 2-1 advantage over the Saints (3-4) after the doubles competition. PC’s Valentin Sigartau and Taylor Smith defeated Gustavo Carballal and Vlad Lumezeanu 9-7 at No. 1, while Mike Robertson and Matt Nash defeated Michael Cooper and Francis Combier 8-1 at the No. 2 spot. Saints Justin Davis and Alex Rodas defeated Jake LeMaster and Joey Leonardo 8-3 in the No. 3 match.
In singles play, Piedmont won four of the six matches. Sigartau defeated Lumezeanu, who saved three match points, at No. 1, while Robertson defeated Carballal in three sets at No. 2. Nash defeated Cooper at No. 3, and Smith defeated Combier at No. 4, both in straight sets. Davis defeated Leonardo at No. 5 and Rodas defeated LeMaster at No. 6 to finish up the match.

The Saints next compete Thursday, March 23, on the road against conference opponent Augusta State University at 2 p.m. The Lions will also play Thursday as they host Fisk University at 3 p.m.
