SAINTS FALL 4-3 TO LIONS IN MEN’S TENNIS
Demorest, Ga. – It came down to the final matches of the day, but in the end Piedmont College pulled out a 4-3 win over North Georgia College & State University in men’s tennis action.
The Saints (1-1) got off to a strong start in the doubles flights with a pair of wins. Senior C.J. Weaver and junior Vlad Lumezeanu defeated Taylor Smith and Mike Robertson 8-4. North Georgia took a 1-0 lead over the Lions after senior Michael Cooper and Francis Combier won their match over Jake LeMaster and Joey Leonardo 8-3.
PC took four of the six singles matches though and pulled away for the victory. Weaver took care of Matt Nash 6-3, 6-0 and Cooper defeated LeMaster 6-2, 6-0, but Leonardo took a three set match from sophomore Alex Rodas and Robertson outlasted sophomore Gustavo Caraballal to win the match for the Lions.
North Georgia will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Brevard College for a match slated to begin a 2:00 p.m. on Friday. |
