NORSWORTHY NAMED NORTH GEORGIA'S HEAD TENNIS COACH

Dahlonega, Ga. – Kent Norsworthy has been named the new head men's and women's tennis coach for the North Georgia College & State University tennis program announced today by Athletic Director Randy Dunn.

Norsworthy takes over for Rick Case , who stepped down as head coach but will remain as assistant coach for the Saints and Lady Saints tennis teams and will teach classes in the Department of Education at NGCSU.

“Having the opportunity to work at NGCSU is fulfilling a life-long dream of mine,” said Norsworthy. “I am honored to have this opportunity at the school that has given me so much over the years. I look forward to giving back to the school and leading our tennis team into the NCAA.”

Norsworthy Graduated from North Georgia in 2001, where he competed on the Saints tennis team all four years. He was named to the All-Conference team for the GACC in the 1997 and 1998 school year.

“Kent Norsworthy is an excellent individual that has high expectations and standards which will fit well with our philosophy at NGCSU,” said Dunn. “He is an NGCSU graduate and former tennis player that understands some of the challenges of the program. Kent will do a great job with our tennis programs as we move forward in the NCAA.”

A native of Smyrna, Ga., Norsworthy graduated from Mount Vernon Christian Academy and was a four sport letter-winner in tennis, basketball, soccer, and baseball. During his career, he was ranked in the top 20 in the state of Georgia for the 18 and under age division and was also listed in the top 60 in the Southern rankings.

Since graduation in 2001, Norsworthy has been a teaching tennis professionally in Alpharetta and Duluth to all ages and abilities. He achieved certification by the USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association) in 2001.
