SAINTS ANNOUNCE 2006 SCHEDULE, FEATURING NINE HOME GAMES
Dahlonega, GA – The North Georgia College & State University men’s soccer team announced its 2006 soccer schedule this afternoon, and it is packed with exciting soccer – including nine home games.
The Saints open the season with a pair of exhibition games, with the first being on the road at NCAA Division I member Georgia Southern University on August 16 at 4 pm. The Saints then host junior college power Truett-McConnell College on August 21 at 5 pm, before opening the regular season in less then five days.
North Georgia opens the 2006 regular season on the road in a pair of tournaments, with the first taking place in Mt. Olive, N.C. against Mt. Olive. The Saints play host Mt. Olive on August 26, followed by St. Andrews on August 27 at 1 pm. The Saints then conclude their tournament portion of the schedule by traveling to Morrow, Ga. to face Queens and Lees McRae on September 1 and 2.
The Saints’ first regular season home game comes against former SSAC-rival Brewton-Parker College on September 5 at 5 pm. The Saints return to action on September 8 against defending Peach Belt Conference champion Clayton State at 6:30 pm.
NGCSU takes a two-game hiatus from conference play by traveling to Thomas University on September 13 and hosting Alabama-Huntsville on September 16 at 2 pm.
The Saints gear back up for conference play by taking on conference newcomer Georgia Southwestern on the road on September 19, before hosting NCAA tournament participant UNC-Pembroke at 3:30 pm on September 23.
The Saints host Covenant College on September 27 at 6 pm, before hitting the road for a pair of PBC games against Francis Marion and USC Aiken.
North Georgia returns home on October 11 to face the University of Montevallo at 4 pm – the first of three consecutive home games to conclude the home portion of the schedule. The Saints also host Anderson University on October 14 at 3 pm, and USC Upstate on October 18 at 7 pm.
The Saints final regular season game is on the road against NCAA quarterfinalist from a year ago, Lander University, on October 21 at 3:30 pm.
