SAINTS SHUTOUT BELHAVEN 2-0 TO GIVE NORTH GEORGIA
FIRST WIN AS NCAA MEMBER Jackson, Miss. – A pair of goals from senior Rene' Alvarez and sophomore Kelvon Morris gave the North Georgia College & State University men's soccer team their first victory of the season and NGCSU its first win as a member of the NCAA. The Saints (1-0-0) out shot Belhaven College (0-1-0) 18-4 in 90 minutes of play, but it was not until the second half that North Georgia put one in the net. In the 54 th minute, Alvarez blasted his first goal of the season past Blazers goalkeeper Matt Paschal . In the 71 st minute, the Saints struck again off the foot of Kelvon Morris to make the score 2-0 and seal the match for North Georgia. Junior keeper Vince Neal picked up his first win and shutout of the season with two saves. Paschal ended the match with five saves on 18 shots faced. The Saints will play again on Monday at 3:00 p.m. as they take on head coach Todd Eason's alma mater, William Carey College. Belhaven will take to the field again on September 2 as they travel to Texas Wesleyan University.
