#24 UNCP AND NORTH GEORGIA PLAY TO 2-2 DRAW
Pembroke, NC – UNC Pembroke and North Georgia played to a 2-2 draw after playing two scoreless overtime periods in men's soccer action Saturday afternoon at the Belk Athletic Complex.
North Georgia (4-4-2, 0-3-1 PBC) got on the board first thanks to Rene Alvarez's first goal of the day at the 16:25 mark.
UNCP (7-2-2, 0-0-1 PBC) got even in the 39 th minute thanks to a Mustapha El M'Hassani goal and then took the lead 2-1 on a Bjorn Beck goal 15 minutes into the second period.
The Saints rallied two minutes later to knot the score at 2-2 on Alvarez's second goal of the day.
The squads, who played a rough and physical game, played to a scoreless draw in both overtime periods to take the 2-2 tie.
UNCP will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Barton. The Saints will play again on October 5 against Georgia Southwestern on the road at 4:00 p.m.
