The Saints out shot the Bearcats 9-6 in the first period, but it was LU that struck first to go up 1-0. In the 19th minute, a North Georgia defender knocekd down junior forward Luke Ibbetson inside the box. Ibbetson blasted in the ensuing penalty kick to give the Bearcats the one goal lead.
North Georgia tied the game up at the 34:57 mark when junior forward Jeremy Bouasy fed a ball into senior midfielder Kent Thornton who touched it to sophomore forward Kelvon Morris, who then tapped it in for his fourth goal of the season.
With the score tied after halftime, both teams fought hard for control of the match. Three minutes into the second half, LU slipped a shot into the box that ricochet off of a Saints defender and into the goal to make it a 2-1 match. The Saints responded off the foot of Morris once again as he scored his second goal of the match on a break away goal.
Both teams continued to hound each other for possession of the match until Ibbetson scored his second goal of the match in the 65th minute. The Bearcats added some insurance off of the foot of senior forward Chiddy Mgbor who chipped a shot in over the head of sophomore goalie Chapin LaChance.
LaChance ended the match with one save in the hard fought loss. LU's senior keeper Garrett Daum tallied seven saves and held the North Georgia offense at bay for much of the match.
