SAINTS TOP STORMY PETRELS 4-3 IN OT
Jeremy Bouasy scores two goals and game winner
Dahlonega, Ga. - It took 100 minutes, but sophomore midfielder Jeremy Bouasy (Demorest, Ga.) put the ball in the back of the net to give North Georgia (9-3-2) a 4-3 win over Oglethorpe University (7-6) on Thursday evening.
Bouasy scored the first goal of the match only three minutes in when he received a pass from junior midfielder Kent Thornton (Kathleen, Ga.) and took it in for the goal. In the 12th minute Bouasy returned the favor and gave an assist to Thornton, who ran it past the keeper for the goal. Senior forward Calvin Smith (Flowery Branch, Ga.) got in on the action and scored a goal in the 27th minute from an assist by junior midfielder Rene' Alvarez(Quito, Ecuador) to give the Saints a 3-0 lead.
The Story Petrels did not fold though, and in the 35th minute got on the board when sophomore forward Francesco Monteleone (Courtland, N.Y.) scored on a free kick and cut the lead to 3-1 before the half. OU cut the lead to one nine minutes into the second half when sophomore midfielder Nick Mosley (Woodstock, Ga.) connected on an assist from sophomore midfielder Eric Horne (Laplace, La.). With 15 minutes left in the match freshman defender David Mueller (St. Louis, Mo.) tied the game with a corner kick that bent into the goal.
The Saints were not rattled though, and 10 minutes into the second half Bouasy connected with his second game winning goal of the season by dribbling past the goal keeper and blasting the shot into the back of the net.
Next up for the Saints is a Southern States Athletic Conference match on the road against Southern Wesleyan University at 7:00 pm on Monday. This weekend the Stormy Petrals are participating in the John P. Salamone Alumni Soccer Tournament.
