NORTH GEORGIA FALLS TO SAMFORD IN EXHIBITION
Xavier Trice leads three Saints in double figures

Birmingham, AL - Xavier Trice paced three North Georgia College & State University Saints in double figures with 13 points, but it was not enough as the Saints fell to NCAA Division I Samford University 76-45 in an exhibition game here Monday night.

The Saints fell behind early and were unable to overcome the hot-shooting of Samford from the outside. The Bulldogs connected on 60 (27-for-45) percent of their shots from the field, and 56 (14-for-25) percent from behind the three-point line in the victory.

Trailing 33-18 at the break, the Saints couldn't muster an attack on Samford in the second half due to the Bulldogs shooting. In the second half alone, the Bulldogs connected on 76.2 (16-for-21) percent from the floor and 69.2 (9-for-13) percent shooting from behind the three-point line.

Meanwhile, the Saints shot 43.2 (19-for-44) percent from the floor for the game and 25 (5-for-20) percent from behind the three-point line.

Randall Gulina led Samford with 30 points, while Jerry Smith was perfect from the floor en route to 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Trice was 5-for-7 from the floor, while Anthony Rowe and Buzz Wehunt each added 10 for North Georgia in the loss.

North Georgia opens the season Friday against Southern Indiana in the Disney Division II TipOff Classic at the Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World. Game time is schedule for 6:30 pm.
