SAINTS FALL TO COLUMBUS STATE
Rowe scores season-high 20 points and grabs 11 rebounds

Columbus , GA - North Georgia College & State University fell to Columbus State University 84-77 in Peach Belt Conference action Saturday evening at the Lumpkin Center.

Down by 21 with just over nine minutes to go in the contest, the Saints battled for the remaining nine minutes to get the deficit trimmed to five. After a basket by Columbus State made the score 67-46 with 9:34 to go in the contest, North Georgia outscored the Cougars 25-9 over the next seven minutes to trim the score to 76-71.

Junior point guard Jakirra Millsap started the scoring with two free throws with 8:45 remaining to trim the deficit to 67-48. Junior guard Jay Anderson weaved his way to the basket, trimming the deficit to 67-50 with 8:12 remaining. After a Columbus State basket, Anthony Rowe went to work for North Georgia in the paint. He double-pumped two defenders off the ground for the easy lay-up. trimming the score to 71-52 with 7:39 to go in the contest. He scored on the next Saints trip down the floor, trimming it to 71-54 with 7:14 remaining. The string of lay-ups contined for North Georgia, as they hit eight consecutive shots in the paint, trimming the lead to 76-71.

Unfortunately, that is as close as the Saints could get.

Columbus State shot 41.1 (30-for-73) percent from the floor, and just 20.6 (7-for-34) percent from behind the arc. They also shot 73.9 (17-for-23) percent from the free throw line.

Meanwhile, North Georgia shot 52.6 (30-for-57) percent from the floor and 27.3 (3-for-11) percent from behind the arc. They also shot 70 (14-for-20) percent from the free throw line.

Ron Robinson paced four Cougars in double figures with 25 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor. Sean Miller added 15, Corris Portis 14 and Travis Matthews 11 in the victory.

Rowe led North Georgia with 20 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Millsap added 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor, while Anderson added 15 and Robert Shoupes chipped in 11 off the bench. Junior Xavier Trice added 10 rebounds for the Saints.

North Georgia (4-16, 0-9 PBC) host USC Upstate at Memorial Hall on Wednesday evening.
