SAINTS BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES ROSTER CHANGES
David and Wehunt suffer season-ending injuries

Dahlonega, GA - North Georgia College & State University senior basketball players Dustin David and Buzz Wehunt have been lost for the remainder of the season due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident over the holiday break.

David was the team's leading scorer this season, averaging 15.8 points per game. He also shot 43.8 (32-for-73) percent from behind the arc and 42.4 (56-for-132) percent from the floor. For the season, he was shooting a team-best 85.7 (30-for-35) percent from the free throw line. The senior forward, who was redshirted last season, scored over 1000 career points (combined) at Piedmont College and North Georgia. He was also pulling down 5.4 rebounds per game through 11 games this season.

Wehunt was the team's fourth-leading scorer, averaging 10.9 points per game. The senior guard was shooting 36.8 (28-for-76) percent from the floor through nine games. He was also shooting 26.7 (12-for-45) percent from behind the arc, and 76.9 (30-for-39) percent from the free throw line. He missed the first two games back from the break due to injury, and was averaging 3.2 rebounds per game before the accident.

Sophomore guard Colby Shaw was also involved in the accident, and is out indefinitely. Shaw was averaging 2.3 points per game in a reserve role through eight games this season. He scored in double figures in North Georgia's victory over Carver Bible College earlier in the season.

Head coach Chris Faulkner also announced that freshman forward Colby Newton has been added to the roster for the second semester. The 6-4 freshman from Gainesville has been with the Saints all season, but was slated to be redshirted.

Faulkner also announced that junior center Robert Shoupes has rejoined the team. Shoupes left the team temporarily over the break, but rejoined the team this week.

North Georgia (4-7) opens Peach Belt Conference play Thursday night as they travel to UNC Pembroke. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm and live stats will be provided.
