DUSTIN DAVID NAMED SECOND-TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT
David one of three Peach Belt Conference selections
Bristol, CT – North Georgia College & State University men’s basketball player Dustin David was one of three representatives from the Peach Belt Conference to be named to the 2007 Men’s Basketball ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District College Division teams, announced last week.
David, a 6-7 senior from Nicholson, Ga., has been out since the Christmas break due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Before the injury, he led the team in scoring at 15.8 points per game in 11 games. He was shooting 42.4 (56-for-132) percent from the floor and 43.8 (32-for-73) percent from behind the arc before the injury. He was leading the team and was near the top of the Peach Belt Conference in free throw shooting at 85.7 (30-for-35) pre-injury.
Not only has he been a shining star on the court this season, he also has been in the classroom by maintaining a 3.57 cumulative grade point average in Accounting.
The members of the College Sports Information Directors of America selected the players for this honor. Twelve student-athletes were named to either the first or second team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III men’s basketball team. The six first team members will advance to the national ballot.
The District III College Division consists of all-non NCAA Division I colleges and universities in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina and Virginia. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or a significant reserve on his or her team.
