SAINTS BASKETBALL RELEASES 2005-2006 SCHEDULE
North Georgia Takes on UAB and Heads to the Bahamas

Dahlonega, Ga. – An exhibition against Division I opponent University of Alabama-Birmingham, a trip to Nassau, Bahamas, and 10 home games against Peach Belt Conference rivals highlight the 2005-2006 North Georgia College & State University men's basketball schedule.

Third year head coach Chris Faulkner released the Saints schedule for this season that will kick off with a November 15 exhibition against Conference USA powerhouse UAB. North Georgia will take on the Blazers at 7:30 p.m. (CST) in Birmingham, Ala. and look to upset a team that went to the second round of the NCAA DI Tournament last year.

The regular season starts on the 18th with a trip to Lindsey Wilson College. The Saints then move on to Cumberland College on the 21st for another away game. On November 30, North Georgia hosts their first home game of the season against August State University at 7:30 p.m.

December opens up with two straight games against PBC opponents USC Aiken and UNC Pembroke. The Saints take on the Pacers at 4:00 p.m. on the 3rd and then return home to face the Braves at 7:30 p.m. on the 15th. North Georgia then cruises out to Nassau to participate in the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout on the 19th and 20th to finish out 2005.

The new year starts off with a January 4 game on the road against Lander University followed by three home games. On the 7th, the Saints will host USC Upstate followed by Columbus State University on the 11th for “Spirit Night” and Georgia College & State University on the 14th. North Georgia will then play Clayton State University on the road on the 18th before heading back home for NGCSU's Homecoming on the 21st against Armstrong Atlantic State University. The 23rd and 25th, the Saints will be on the road to take on Francis Marion University and Augusta State University. North Georgia will close out January on the 28th against USC Aiken at home followed by a non-conference game against Piedmont College on the 30th.

The Saints final month of games begins on February 1 against Francis Marion at home followed by a road trip to UNC Pembroke on the 4th. North Georgia will then take on Lander at home on the 8th before hitting the road for three games. The 11th, the Saints take on USC Upstate followed by a visit to Columbus State on the 15th. The road trip ends on the 18th against Georgia College. North Georgia will play its final home game on the 22nd against Clayton State at 7:30 p.m. The Saints will close out the 2005-2006 season with a visit to Armstrong Atlantic on the 25th.

North Georgia had one of its most successful seasons last year as they finished 23-10 overall and 16-6 in the conference. The Saints were ranked in the top 25 in the nation for most of the season and advanced to the semi-finals of the conference tournament. North Georgia will be lead by seniors Mark Causey , Ryan Franklin , Charles Mitchell , and Marcus Robinson . The Saints also return junior All-American and SSAC Player of the Year Matt Causey for the 2005-2006 campaign.
