SAINTS RUN PAST EAGLES 96-61

Dahlonega, Ga. - The North Georgia College & State University men's basketball team shot 62% from the field as they defeated Toccoa Falls College 96-61 Saturday night in Memorial Gymnasium.

The Saints broke out to a 44-23 lead in the first half and were led by senior guard Dominique Dieujuste (Madison, Ga.) who scored 12 points after shooting six for seven from the floor in the first. Junior guard Matt Causey (Gainesville, Ga) made six of his nine assists in the first half and chipped in eight points. The Eagles were led by sophomore guard Jason Shaffer (Loganville, Ga.) who scored eight points in the first half and 19 in the game.

In the second half it was all North Georgia as they out scored Toccoa Falls 52-38. Causey was the leading scorer for the Saints as he went nine for 15 from the field and scored 21 points. As a team, North Georgia shot 66% from the field in the second half and 33% from behind the line.

The Saints improve to 2-0 in the young season and will play Covenant College on the road this Saturday at 7:30 pm. The Eagles fall to 1-1 on the year and will play Warren Wilson at home tonight at 7:00 pm.
