SAINTS CHARGE PAST BARONS 98-82
Dahlonega, Ga. - North Georgia College & State University used a strong second half to defeat Brewton-Parker College 98-82 this evening in Memorial Gymnasium. Sophomore guard Matt Causey (Gainesville, Ga.) tied a career high of 30 points to lead the Saints.
North Georgia (12-5, 7-2) had the lead for much of the first half but could not break away from BPC (9-9, 2-7). The Barons tied the score eight times in the half and the lead changed possession six times. With time running out in the first, Causey scored on a lay-up with five seconds left to give the Saints a 48-41 lead, but a buzzer beating three pointer by senior guard Ben McGlynn (Moloolaba, Australia) cut the North Georgia lead to five at the half.
In the second half, the Saints stretched their lead to 11 eight minutes after senior guard Bryce Brickhouse (Norcross, Ga.) buried a three pointer to make the score 68-57. Three minutes later, Causey drained three straight three pointers to increase the North Georgia lead to 82-65. Junior guard Mark Causey (Gainesville, Ga.) knocked down another three at the 5:16 mark to make the score 90-66 and gave the Saints their largest lead of the night at 24. |

Three Barons' scored in double digits, led by junior forward Justin Bees (Miami, Fla.) who had 21 for BPC off the bench. The Barons shot 30-for-36 from the field and 82% from the free throw line for the game.
Matt Causey led all scorers with 30 and senior forward Canaan Brown (Buford, Ga.) scored his first double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Mark Causey added 21 points and Brickhouse tossed in 17. The Saints shot over 50% from the field, going 37-for-72 and shooting 48% from behind the arc.
Next up for the Saints is Faulkner University on January 20 at 7:00 p.m. cst. BPC will be back in action on Thursday as they take on Shorter College at home at 8:00 p.m.
