BERRY TOPS #25 SAINTS 108-93
MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Kirk Feinswog led five Berry players in double figures with 24 points as the Vikings defeated No. 25 North Georgia 108-93 in a Southern States Athletic Conference men's basketball game at Ford Gym in Mount Berry Monday.
Feinswog scored 16 of his points in the final 20 minutes, when Berry erupted for 63 points. The senior guard just missed a triple double, pulling down 10 rebounds and passing out nine assists.
Berry's Cameron Fitch scored 23 points, while Ben Elliott added 18, Sheldon Peterson scored 13 points off the bench and Tramaine Aaron chipped in 12 for the Vikings, who improved to 20-10 overall and 13-7 in SSAC action.
The Vikings' Jonathan Reddell hauled in 11 rebounds to give him 774 in his career, third all-time at Berry. Reddell passed Calvin Hocker, who was third on the list after grabbing 766 rebounds from 1995-2000.
North Georgia's Matt Causey led all players with 27 points, including 10-for-10 shooting from the free throw line. Ryan Franklin, who was 12-for-14 from the charity stripe, added 20 points, while Bryce Brickhouse scored 16 points and Mark Trust added 11 for the Saints. North Georgia dropped to 20-9 overall and 14-6 in the SSAC.
With the victory, the Vikings pulled to within one game of second place North Georgia in the conference standings. Both teams have two conference games remaining.
Berry, which shot 57.7 percent (41-for-71) from the floor in the game, clinched its second 20-win season under third year head coach Jeff Haarlow.
