SAINTS MEN'S BASKETBALL PICKED 10TH IN SSAC PRESEASON POLL
Dahlonega, Ga. - North Georgia College & State University have been picked to finish tenth in this years Southern States Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll.
Southern Polytechnic State University is the preseason number one in the SSAC poll with 139 total points and nine first place votes. The Runnin' Hornets are ranked 11th in the nation and posted a 24-10 overall record and finished first in the conference with a 14-4 mark.
Placing second in the poll was Brewton-Parker College with 125 points and one first place vote. The Baron's are currently ranked #24 in the nation. BPC finished third in the conference last season with a 18-13 overall record and 11-7 in the conference.
Looking to rebound from a tough season last year is Auburn University Montgomery who is picked third by the coaches with 106 points and one first place vote. The Senators finished last season with a 13-18 mark and eighth in the conference with a 7-11 record.
Rounding out the top five are defending SSAC tournament champions Reinhardt College, ranked fourth, and newcomer Lee University, ranked fifth. Faulkner University is picked to sixth this year followed by Southern Wesleyan University who also received one first place vote. Georgia Southwestern State University and Berry College picked to finish eighth and ninth this season.
North Georgia looks to improve on last year and is picked tenth with 49 points. The Saints finished last season 13-20 and 3-15 in the conference.
Shorter College and Emmanuel College finish out the poll with 34 points and 18 points respectively.
