SAINTS BASKETBALL LISTED AMONG NAIA LEADERS
Dorminey and Williamson Listed First in Blocks and Free Throws
Dahlonega, Ga. - North Georgia College & State University men's and women's basketball teams are listed among the NAIA leaders in the latest statistics announced this week.
For the women's basketball team, junior guard Katie Williamson (Suwanee, Ga.) is ranked number one in free throw percentage. Williamson is shooting 96.1% (73-76) from the line. Junior post Jeanine Dorminey (Tifton, Ga.) is also listed first in blocks (4.48 bpg). Senior post Brandi Owen (Cornelia, Ga.) is 20th in the nation in offensive rebounds (3.25 rpg) per game. The Lady Saints are second in the nation in blocks per game (4.48 bpg) and third in free throw percentage with 76.4% (297-390). North Georgia is also ranked eighth in defensive rebounds (27.9 rpg) and 18th in offensive rebounds (41.1 rpg). North Georgia also ranks 18th in scoring (74.5 ppg) and 16th in field goal percentage (45.1%).
For the men's team, sophomore guard Matt Causey (Gainesville, Ga.) is ranked eighth in free throw percentage (86.8%) and ninth in assists (5.79 apg) in the nation. His brother, junior guard Mark Causey (Gainesville, Ga.), is T-19th in the nation in steals with 2.36 steals per game. Sophomore post Mark Trust (Winder, Ga.) is 13th in blocks with 1.57 blocks per game. The Saints basketball team is currently ranked 10th in the nation in scoring offense with 86.1 points per game and fourth in free throw percentage (75.3%) and field goal percentage (75.3%).
Both men's and women's basketball teams are coming off three straight wins. The Lady Saints are currently ranked 18th in the nation and have a 10-6 overall record and a 6-1 mark in the SSAC after defeating Shorter College 86-54. The Saints are now 10-5 overall and 5-2 in the SSAC after defeating Shorter College Monday night 95-85
