SAINTS REMAIN 25TH IN THE NATION
Dahlonega, Ga. – With one week to go before the final ratings are released, the NAIA National Rankings were shook up as three teams dropped from the poll and top-15 teams slid up and down in the poll this week. The North Georgia College & State University men's basketball team remained in 25th place in their run to make it to the National Championship in Kansas City, Mo.
Rebounding from a tough loss last Monday on the road at Shorter College, the Saints defeated Southern Wesleyan College Thursday at home to split last week and improved to 20-8 and 14-5 in the Southern States Athletic Conference. Currently, North Georgia is 20-9 overall and 14-6 in conference play with two games left in the regular season.
SSAC rival Southern Polytechnic State University received 292 points, two more than second place Lindsey Wilson, to jump back into the number one spot in the nation. Mountain State fell two spots to third place after losing on the road to eighth ranked Union University. The University of Mobile skipped from sixth place to fourth place while Trevecca Nazarene fell five spots from seventh to 12th place. Biola made the biggest fall this week, as they tumbled from 11 th to 20 th in the nation.
California Baptist, Missouri Baptist, and Lubbock Christian all jumped back into the poll this week, with California Baptist making the largest climb from unranked to 14th.
The Saints have two more games before the SSAC tournament begins in Marietta. Tomorrow, North Georgia takes on Brewton-Parker in a key road game for the Saints, and Monday North Georgia hosts Faulkner University for the final game of the regular season.
