NORTH GEORGIA MEN’S BASKETBALL RANKED 25TH IN NAIA
Dahlonega, Ga. - North Georgia College & State University is ranked 25th in the latest NAIA National ranking released today by NAIA officials.
Riding a five game win streak, the Saints are tied for 25th with a 12-5 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the Southern States Athletic Conference. North Georgia is 6-1 in the new year and defeated Southern Wesleyan College and Brewton-Parker College this past week. The Saints defeated SWC 93-88 in overtime on the road and BPC 98-82 at home. This week, North Georgia takes on Faulkner University in Montgomery and Lee University at home for NGCSU’s Homecoming game. This is the first time this season that the Saints have been ranked in the top-25. The bottom half to the top-25 saw a change with seven previously unranked teams making the list, including North Georgia.
The top five lost only one team this week, with previously fifth ranked Georgetown falling to 19th. Mountain State remained number one with 10 of the 12 possible first place votes. SSAC rival Southern Polytechnic stayed in the third position and received one first place vote along with Lindsey Wilson College who remained in second place and also received a first place vote.
