Josh Travis enters his fifth season as the men's basketball assistant coach for North Georgia. During his tenure with the Saints, the program has posted a 64-54 mark, including a birth in the semifinals of the 2007-08 Peach Belt Conference basketball tournament.
After serving as a graduate assistant in 2003-2004, Travis was promoted to assistant coach. Along with coaching, he is an instructor in the Health and Physical Education department and is currently pursuing a M.Ed. in Physical Education at NGCSU.
Travis comes to North Georgia from Reinhardt College where he served as an assistant coach for the women's basketball team in 2002-2003, and as an assistant coach for the men's basketball team in 2001-2002. He played basketball for Truett-McConnell College for two seasons in 1997-1999 and then transferred to Reinhardt where he played during the 2000-2001 season.
Travis and his family have many ties to the basketball community here in Georgia. His father, Milt, coached at Model High School in Rome for 20 years and is the current head coach at Buford High School. His brother, Jacob, played basketball at Reinhardt College as well and is the current assistant basketball coach at Buford High School.
