Amber Kent enters her fourth season as assistant coach for the Lady Saints after helping guide the team a conference championship in their first season in the Peach Belt Conference with a 19-1 record. Before entereting the NCAA Kent halped guide the Lady Saints to back-to-back conference championships and two NAIA National Tournaments. Kent was a student assistant coach during the 2000-01 season after finishing a stellar career as a Lady Saint player. Kent was on Coach Buffie Burson's first championship team as a freshman in 1997. During that year she started every game and was selected to the GAC All-Freshman Team. As a player, she helped her team record 103 wins in four years while being a huge contributor to three conference titles and three trips to the NAIA National Tournament, including an Elite Eight finish her senior season. Kent was named an NAIA All-American in 1999 and was chosen for the GAC All-Conference Team in 1998 and 1999. She is also a member of the 1,000-point club having scored her 1,000-point mid-way through her junior season.
Following graduation from NGCSU in 2001, Coach Kent taught at Myers Elementary School and North Hall High School, respectively. While at North Hall, she was the varsity assistant basketball coach and head 9th grade basketball coach.
Kent's duties include assisting in recruiting, on-the-floor coaching, student-athlete advisement, and other administrative duties. She is also an instructor in the HPE department and is a member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. |
