Box Score

DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State University rallied for four runs in the seventh to tie the game, but the Wolves of West Georgia notched back-to-back home runs in the ninth for a 10-8 win at the baseball complex Tuesday evening in non-conference action.

North Georgia falls to 32-18 on the season, while West Georgia snaps out of a ten-game losing streak to improve to 28-19 on the year.

West Georgia jumped on top in the first inning as A.J. Renfrow grounded out to bring Davan Abney home for a 1-0 lead. The Saints came right back in the bottom of the inning as Andre Airich reached on a fielders choice to bring Logan Sharrett home and tie the game. North Georgia would take their first lead of the game in the second with a Craig Brisson double to the gap in right-center, plating two more and giving the Saints a 3-1 lead.

The Wolves would rally in the third with a lead-off walk which brought Abney to the plate who promptly homered to right-center to tie the game 3-3. West Georgia would add two more runs in the fifth inning as Bradley Abell and Andrew Parish stroked RBI hits to take a 5-3 lead.

North Georgia would get one of those runs back in the bottom half of the fifth on another RBI from Airich, this time on a single up the middle to bring Rob Flanigan home and make it 5-4.

West Georgia would tack on two more runs in the sixth as Abney recorded his second two-run home run of the day, scoring Luke Martin and extending the Wolves' lead to three at 7-4. After Adam Matos beat out an infield single to score another run, The Saints found themselves down 8-4 but ready to rally in the last of the seventh.

North Georgia started the seventh with Flanigan and Airich on base courtesy of two hit batters by West Georgia. Kevin Morrison came to the plate two batters later and delivered a double to right field, scoring Airich and making it 8-5. Petitti would follow with a double of his own, plating two more runs and bringing the Saints to within a run at 8-7. After a ground out to send Petitti to third, Anders Oster came to the plate and delivered a two-out game tying RBI single up the middle to make it an 8-8 contest and cap a four run seventh inning.

After zeros flashed on the scoreboard in the eighth, West Georgia came out and recorded back-to-back home runs by Parrish and Matos to take a 10-8 lead. Both long balls were sent nearly to the same spot in right-center to give the Wolves a 10-8 victory.

John Lees (3-1) picked up the win for the Wolves, tossing two and two-thirds of an inning and allowing one hit and no runs.

Don Brice (1-1) was charged with the loss after facing six batters and giving up the two ninth inning home runs.

North Georgia (32-18) heads right back to the field Wednesday night for another non-conference match up, this time hosting North Greenville for a 7:00 p.m. start.
