SAINTS GET BACK ON TRACK, DOWN UWF 12-2
North Georgia recorded 17 hits in 10-run win

PENSACOLA, FL – North Georgia College & State University got back in the column Tuesday afternoon, recording 17 hits and 12 runs to bury the University of West Florida 12-2 on the road in non-conference action.

After single runs in the first and third innings, North Georgia broke the game open with a pair of runs in the fourth and five runs in the fifth to make it 9-2. Chad Sage had his best game of the year and produced a two run single the five run sixth inning, capping a three-hit day that saw the freshman drive in four runs. Daniel Petitti also recorded an RBI single in the sixth inning as the Saints opened up a seven run lead.

North Georgia held the Argonauts scoreless with the exception of a two-run fifth and the Saints got those runs back and more with a three spot in the eighth inning. Logan Sharrett, Aaron Trammell, and Craig Brisson all notched RBI hits in the eighth inning to lead the Saints to a 12-2 series opening victory on the road. For Trammell, he saw his first action of the year and picked up his first collegiate hits, going 2-4 with a run batted in.

Alex Simmons (2-0) picked up the win, tossing five innings with a line that read, four hits, two runs, and five strikeouts. The bullpen got the job done in the late innings, as Zack Black recorded two innings of two hit ball, while Don Brice got an inning of work and struck out one.

North Georgia (17-13, 8-7 PBC) will look to sweep the two-game set tomorrow afternoon against West Florida with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m. central standard time.
