SAINTS DROP SERIES FINALE 18-10 TO USC AIKEN
North Georgia right back in action Tuesday

Box Score

DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State University blasted five home runs, but could not stop a streaking USC Aiken squad from taking the series finale 18-10 at the baseball complex Sunday afternoon in the Peach Belt Conference action.

North Georgia jumped on top in the first with Daniel Petitti getting his big day started with a double down the left field line to bring Craig Brisson racing home for a 1-0 lead.

USC Aiken (10-3, 2-1 PBC) tied the game back up in the second inning with a triple off the bat of Nick Aranas to bring David Vitko to the plate and tie the game 1-1. The Pacers were far from done, adding three more in the second and putting three spots up in the third and fourth. After two scoreless innings, Aranas capped a six run seventh with a three run long ball that just skimmed over the left field wall for a 16-7 lead.

North Georgia's bright spot of the day came in the third inning as Rob Flanigan and Daniel Petitti tallied back-to-back homers for the second time this season. Petitti continued his onslaught in the fifth with his second home run of the game, this a time a two run shot just inside the foul pole down the left field line. Andre Airich sent a two run long ball out of the park in the eighth, and Flanigan followed with one of his longest homers of the year, his second of the game, to make it a 17-10 game.

The Pacers would add one more in the ninth for an 18-10 final score. Peden Rucker picked up the win for USC Aiken, going 5.1 innings and allowing seven hits and six earned runs. Mark Thomas (0-1) was tagged with the loss in just 1.2 innings, allowing four hits and four earned runs for his first decision of the year.

North Georgia (6-7, 1-2 PBC) will return to action at Anderson University Tuesday, February 26, for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.
