SAINTS SPLIT DOUBLE DIP WITH BRAVES
Rubber game of series tomorrow afternoon

DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State University pulled out a 6-1 win in the series opener, but fell 6-5 in game two of a three game set against UNC Pembroke here Friday evening in Peach Belt Conference action.
In game one, a pitching duel created a scoreless game through four innings, but Logan Sharrett broke up a no-hitter with the Saints first hit of the day, a double in the left-centerfield gap to score Daniel Petitti and give North Georgia a 1-0 lead.
The Saints would put another single run on the board in the sixth inning as Anders Oster came to the plate with two runners on and sent a line drive up the middle to plate Rob Flanigan for a 2-0 lead.
North Georgia would add two more runs to their lead in the seventh inning off Braves' starting pitcher Justin Yow as Flanigan sent a single the other way to plate a run and Oster walked to bring another run home and give North Georgia a 4-0 lead.
Stuart Champion singled in the ninth inning to send the Braves' only run to the plate as North Georgia picked up a series opening 6-1 win.
Chris Curtis (4-1) went the distance for the Saints, allowing just five hits and one run while striking out five in his first complete game of the year. Yow (4-4) suffered the loss for UNC Pembroke, going 6.2 innings and allowing six hits and four runs while striking out nine.
In game two, the Braves waisted no time getting on the board as Keith Whitman hit a three run home run to left field for an early 3-0 lead. The Saints got a two of those runs back in the bottom half of the inning as Flanigan and Kevin Morrison notched RBI's to make it a 3-2 Braves' lead.
UNC Pembroke rounded out its scoring with two more long balls as Whitman got on the board again with a solo shot in the fourth and Josh Bentley sit a two-run shot over the fence to take a 6-2 lead.
In the home half of the fifth, Chad Sage sent a ball over the fence in left field to pull North Georgia to within three runs at 6-3. An inning later, the Saints plated two more runs on a pair of hits to cut the Braves' lead to just one at 6-5, but that was as close as they would get in the game two loss.
Flanigan doubled twice in a 4-for-4 game, while Andre Airich scored twice and went 2-5 at the plate.
North Georgia (16-12, 8-6 PBC) will look to take their third straight series tomorrow afternoon against UNC Pembroke with first pitch schedule for 1:00 p.m.
