DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State University used a trio of home runs and a four-hit performance by Chad Sage to spark a 12-6 victory over the University of Alabama Huntsville Wednesday evening at the baseball complex in non-conference action.
North Georgia jumped out to an early first inning lead with a Josh Tate three-run blast to give the Saints a 3-0 advantage. North Georgia went right back to work in the second with three more runs on a trio of RBI singles and the benefit of two Charger errors.
After UAH plated a run in the second and three more in the fifth, North Georgia put a four spot on the board with a two-run homer by Andre Airich, and RBI singles by Logan Sharrett and Rob Flanigan to extend the lead to six at 10-4. Chad Sage would cap off his four-hit day in the eighth with a solo homer as both teams would add a pair of runs late in a 12-6 North Georgia win.
Alex Simmons improved to 3-0 on the year in relief, tossing 2.1 innings of no-hit ball while striking out two.
North Georgia (20-16, 8-10 PBC) returns to action over the weekend, hosting Augusta State University for a three-game series with a single game slated for Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. and a doubleheader set for Saturday with first pitch at 2:00 p.m.
