NORTH GEORGIA DOWNS PEIFFER 14-4 IN SERIES FINALE
Saints move to .500 with the win
Box Score
DAHLONEGA, GA – The 20th-ranked North Georgia College & State University Saints jumped on top early and often to salvage the final game of a three game series 14-4 against Pfeiffer University here Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Saints received solid pitching all weekend against the Falcons, but Sunday the bats stepped up behind starting pitcher Michael Patton (2-0) who tossed five innings, allowing one run while striking out two.
The Saints took the lead in the opening inning with run scoring doubles of the bats of Josh Tate and Kevin Morrison to help put a three spot on the board in the first frame.
North Georgia used a six-run fourth and three-run seventh to pull away for the victory. Craig Brisson had the biggest hit of the day, a three-run long ball in the fourth, while Tate recorded three hits of his own in five plate appearances.
Kevin Oquendo had a day for the Falcons, going 3-4 with two runs batted in and a run scored. The loss drops Pfeiffer to 5-2 on the year as they have yet to drop a series.
North Georgia (3-3) will return to action at home on February 15-17, for a four game series against Millersville University starting Friday at 4:00 p.m.
