SAINTS DROP DOUBLE HEADER TO MILLERSVILLE
North Georgia retuns to action in PBC play next weekend

Game 1 | Game 2

DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State University got another big day from Craig Brisson in game one with three more hits, but Millersville University came out strong and defeated the Saints 16-5 in game one and and rallied in the ninth for an 8-5 nightcap win to earn a series split.

In game one, Millersville had some revenge after a 12-inning loss Friday night and took it out on the Saints in the first four innings, scoring 13 runs on 14 hits. Centerfielder Corey Phelan did most the damage on his own, going 4-6 with five runs batted in and three runs scored.

Craig Brisson took no notice of the score and put up three more hits in four plate appearances to continue a streak that has seen him with hits in ten of his last fifteen at-bats.

Daniel Petitti picked up right where he left off after a walk-off game-winning hit in the 12-inning Friday night, and pounded out three more hits, including a home run to left-center in the fifth. Petitti’s home run followed a long ball off the bat of Rob Flanigan to give North Georgia their first back-to-back homers of the season.

Michael Patton (2-1) was tagged with his first loss of the season in 2.2 innings, allowing seven runs while striking out three.

Zack Eckley (1-0) picked up the win in 6.0 innings of work, allowing six runs while striking out five.

In game two, the Marauder’s jumped on top with a run in the first, but North Georgia answered right back in the third with a two spot off a double by Andre Airich to bring Brisson and Anders Oster racing home for a 2-1 Saints’ lead.

Millersville would tie the game in the next half inning on a double by Danny LaMura to bring Miles Gallagher home for a 2-2 tie. Derek Kline gave the Marauders the lead in the following inning on a solo shot over the centerfield wall for a 3-2 lead.

Oster would tie the game in the seventh on a single to bring Kevin Morrison in for a 4-4 game. Later in the inning, Logan Sharrett sent a deep sacrifice fly to left center and North Georgia grabbed a 5-4.

Millersville mounted another ninth-inning rally tied the game as Ryan Hogentogler raced to the plate on a base hit up the middle for a game 5-5. After a bases-loaded walk gave the Marauders the lead, a bloop single plated two more and a four spot in the ninth buried the Saints 8-5.

North Georgia (5-5) will return to action next weekend for their first conference series of the season, facing USC Aiken at home in a three game set. A double header is slated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a single game at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
