SAINTS GET BACK ON TRACK, DOWN TROJANS 11-2
North Georgia back in action tomorrow afternoon

Box Score

DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State University snapped a three-game skid Tuesday evening, taking care of Anderson University 11-2 at the baseball complex in non-conference action.

North Georgia improves to 19-16 on the year while the loss drops Anderson to 12-31 on the season. The Saints put 11 runs on the board and move to 8-1 when scoring more then 10 runs. The pitching staff did their job with Jesse Coxwell picking up his first collegiate win, going 6.0 innings and allowing two runs on eight hits and striking out three, while Don Brice came on in relief and allowed just one hit over three innings while striking out four as North Georgia improves to 7-0 when holding opponents to two or fewer runs.

North Georgia jumped on top in the second inning with a pair of runs without the benefit of a hit. Five walks and two wild pitches led to the runs as the Saints plated two runs and added five more in the third on three hits and two key Trojan errors. Craig Brisson and Logan Sharrett notched RBI singles in the inning as the Saints jumped out to a 7-0 lead.

After North Georgia put a single run on the board in the fourth, Anderson answered in the fifth and pushed two runs across on a Ryan Saxon two-run blast to left field, ending Coxwell's shutout bid making it an 8-2 Saints' lead.

Rob Flanigan connected in the sixth and sent his ninth homer of the year out of the park, sending a towering fly ball out of sight over the right field fence to make it 9-2. The Saints would add two more in the seventh to make it 11-2 and pull out the non-conference win.

Luis Martinez (2-6) suffered the loss in 1.2 innings of work, allowing just one hit and two runs while walking five and striking out two.

North Georgia (19-16, 8-10 PBC) returns to action tomorrow evening as they welcome the University of Alabama Huntsville to town for an 8:00 p.m. first pitch.
