SAINTS TAKE FINALE, SWEEP SERIES FROM JAGUARS
North Georgia extends winning streak to five

Box Score

DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State University pulled out the bats again and jumped all over the Jaguars, pounding out 15 runs on as many hits to take the finale 15-4 and sweep a three game series from Augusta State University Monday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference action.

With their second three-game series sweep of the season, North Georgia improves to 23-16 on the year and 11-10 in PBC play, while Augusta State falls to 22-19, and four games under .500 in the league at 7-11.

Augusta jumped on the board first in the second inning as Matt Landis singled up the middle to plate Clay Haynes give the visiting Jaguars an early 1-0 lead. North Georgia would not be down long however, as Kevin Morrison reached on a fielder to bring Andre Airich home to tie the game 1-1. Anders Oster would score later in the inning on an error to give the Saints a lead they would never relinquish.

North Georgia added three more runs in the third inning as Rob Flanigan continued his dominance in the series, blasting a three-run long ball to right field for a 5-1 lead.

Augusta State would add single runs in the fourth and sixth on a Haynes solo homer to left field and a Tony Baker RBI single, but the Saints would respond once again, this time a five spot in the bottom of the fifth. Oster had the big blow, his first career grand slam to left field to give North Georgia a 9-2 lead. Morrison would jump in on the offensive onslaught two batters later, smashing his second home run of the year to give the Saints an eight run lead at 10-2.

Craig Brisson added to the lead in the seventh with a two-out single to bring two more runs home and make it 12-2. The Jaguars would answer in the eighth as Haynes belted his second home run of the day down the left field line to make it 12-3, but as they did all day, North Georgia answered in their next at-bat with three more runs. Flanigan put an exclamation mark on a masterful series, taking the first pitch he saw and planting it over the fence in right center for his second home run of the day, fourth of the series and his 11th RBI of the three-game set. Daniel Petitti and Morrison added RBI's in the inning as well to give the Saints a 15-4 win.

Michael Patton (5-1) picked up the win, lasting 5.2 innings and giving up five hits and two earned runs while striking out three. Alex Simmons and Garrett Lussi came on in relief to close the deal for the Saints.

Scott Strickland (0-2) suffered the loss in 2.0 inning of work, allowing three hits and three earned runs while walking two.

North Georgia (23-16, 11-10 PBC) will jump right back into action tomorrow afternoon, traveling to West Georgia to take on the Wolves with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
