PATTON PICKS UP PEACH BELT PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Patton perfect in two relief appearances
DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State University's Michael Patton was named the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced this afternoon by the conference. This is the first North Georgia baseball player to receive a PBC weekly award this season.
Patton was masterful in two relief appearances in a three-game series at Columbus State. He began on Friday by cutting off a Cougar rally with 1/3 of an inning, picking up a strikeout with the bases loaded.
He returned in the series finale, making his appearance in the fifth and staying on for the next 8 2/3 innings as North Georgia won 2-1 in 13. The freshman allowed only three hits and faced four over the miniumum as he walked three and struck out three. Held CSU to a .107 batting average over nine full innings.
North Georgia is in the midst of a five game home stand, including a three game set against PBC rival GCSU March 14-15.
