SAINTS SWEEP SERIES FROM PFEIFFER WITH 12-6 WIN
Brice picks up first career win

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University scored early and often with runs in every inning to take game two 12-6 and a series sweep over Pfeiffer University here Wednesday afternoon. Josh Tate led the Saints with three hits, two RBI’s and two runs scored.

The Saints jumped on the board in the first inning when Kevin Morrison picked up his 12th RBI of the season on ground-out to score Craig Brisson for a 1-0 lead. Anders Oster led of the second with line drive that bounced off the right field wall for a stand-up double and after Creston Warner walked Daniel Petitti rolled a single through the middle to plate Oster and give the Saints a 2-0 lead.

Pfeiffer (13-14) cut the Saints lead in half in the third inning when Ryan Harju took a Don Brice pitch and lined it into left to score Tyler Smith for the Falcons first run of the game. In the bottom half of the inning, the Saints put two on with no outs before Morrison hit a double to left-center to plate Andre Airich and Tate for a 4-1 advantage.

The Falcons answered again when Daniel Brown delivered a two out single to score Hayes Hinson and make it a 4-2 game in the fourth. In the last of the fourth, the Saints loaded the bases with no outs on a lead-off walk Creston Warner and back-to-back bunt singles by Petitti and Brisson.  Airich stepped to the plate and grounded a single through the left side to plate Warner, Tate hit a sacrifice to right, and Morrison singled to plate the third run of the inning for a 7-2 lead.

Pfeiffer cut into saints lead again in the fifth when Kyle Pugh and Justin Ridenhour both delivered two out RBI singles to pull the Falcons within three runs at 7-4. Oster led off the bottom of the fifth with a double down the right field line and advanced to third on a wild pitch before Warner brought the runner home on a groundout to the left side to give the Saints an 8-4 lead. Rickett would provide an RBI single to bring Tate to the plate in the sixth and extend the Saints lead to five runs.

Warner broke out of a slump in the seventh with a lead-off double and was brought home on a groundout by Brisson for a 10-5 lead. Tate added to his big day with single to score the Saints 11th run of the game. Pfeiffer would add runs in the seventh and eighth, and Warner added another RBI for the Saints in their last at-bat for a 12-6 win.

Brice (1-0) picks up the win the four innings of work, allowing one earned run on six hits. The loss goes to Brett Richardson (0-1) who tossed three innings and gave up three runs on six hits.

North Georgia (11-11, 3-3 PBC) will return to action on Friday March 16, as they open a weekend Series at home against Lander University in Peach Belt Conference action.
