SAINTS RUN PAST ERSKINE 9-2
North Georgia pounds out eleven hits in win

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University got a strong outing from Kyle Doehrman, and two hits from Andre Airich including a two-run homerun, to take down Erskine College 9-2 here Tuesday night.

The Saints got on the board first in the third inning with a long ball off the bat of Airich. The homer brought Craig Brisson to the plate and gave the home team an early 2-0 third inning lead. In the fourth, Daniel Petitti added to the lead with groundout to shortstop to bring Justin Rickett to the plate and give the Saints a 3-0 lead.

North Georgia went right back out in the fifth and pushed four runs across on only two hits to take a 7-0 lead. The first run came across when Anders Oster hit a routine grounder to second, but an error kept the inning alive and brought Brisson to the plate. Airich and Rickett then both took advantage of a passed ball and throwing error to both race home and add to the lead. The play of the inning though belonged to Creston Warner who hit his first career triple off the right-center field wall, just inches from clearing the fence, to bring Oster home to score and complete the Saints four-run inning.

The Flying Fleet finally got on the board in the sixth when Chas Anthony completed the hit and run play to perfection as grounded a ball through the left side to plate Chris Biguenet to cut into the Saints lead for a 7-1 score. They would make it a 7-2 game on a wild pitch by Kyle Doehrman as Shelton Cisson raced to plate for the second run of the inning.

The Saints added insurance runs in the seventh thanks to RBI hits from Petitti and Brett George to drive home two more runs and increase the lead to seven at 9-2.

Doehrman (2-0) picked up the win as he went six innings allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out three.  Andrew Guest got the loss in five innings of work, allowing six hits and seven runs (three earned).

The Saints will return to action Saturday, April 14, as travel to take on Georgia College and State University in a key weekend Peach Belt Conference match up.
