SAINTS SPLIT, CANTRELL PICKS UP 300th VICTORY AT SCHOOL
Justin Rickett's third homerun wins nightcap

Livingston, AL Justin Rickett's seventh inning homerun was enough to give North Georgia College & State University a 2-1 victory over West Alabama, giving head coach Tom Cantrell his 300th victory at the institution.

With the Saints clinging to a one-run lead, the senior stepped to the plate and hit a 1-1 fastball over the right centerfield wall, giving the Saints some insurance.

Senior Brannon Sikes (1-1) made his debut as a starting pitcher this season, and promptly pitched 6 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball. He allowed four hits, striking out eight batters in the process.

Sikes and Rickett were not the only two players to step up in the second game of the doubleheader, as freshman Daniel Sarisky earned his first save of the season - pitching out of trouble in the eighth inning.

Sarisky came in with the runners at first and second. He allowed an RBI single before forcing a pop-up for the final out, with the tying run at third and go-ahead at second.

Senior Creston Warner went 2-for-4 in the nightcap, while six other players picked up a hit in the victory.

Jake DeRoy went 3-for-4 and Rob Dahlberg went 2-for-4 in the loss.

Brandon Wheeler suffered the loss, going seven innings and allowing both runs off of nine hits.

In the first game of the doubleheader, West Alabama scored three runs in the first inning and held on for a 4-2 victory.

Rob Dahlberg led the Tigers at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in and a run scored. Clark Humber also went 2-for-4 in the opener.

The Saints were held to four hits in the opener by West Alabama starter Matt Chambless and reliever R.J. Miller.

Josh Tate, Craig Brisson, Brad Hall and Warner each collected hits in the first game.

Chambless (1-1) picked up the victory, working seven innings and allowing one run off of four hits.

Chris Curtis (1-1) suffered the loss for North Georgia. He went 7 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (two earned) off of seven hits.

North Georgia (2-3) and West Alabama (3-3) play the rubber game of the series Sunday at 1:00 pm CST.
