SAINTS CLAIM THIRD STRAIGHT VICTORY
Three pitchers combing to limit Georgia Southwestern to eight hits

AMERICUS, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University used three two-run innings to down rival Georgia Southwestern State University 7-4 in a key Peach Belt Conference game here Saturday afternoon.

North Georgia (30-20, 13-12 PBC) used the pitching of Brannon Sikes, Dustin Wellborn and Zach Black to limit the Hurricanes to eight hits en route to the victory.  Sikes (4-4) picked up the victory, pitching six innings and allowing just two runs off of five hits.  Black recorded his second save of the season with 2 2/3 innings of work.  He allowed just one run off of two hits.

Meanwhile, the Saints were led by senior Justin Rickett at the plate.  The third baseman hit his 25th career homerun, a new school record, in a 1-for-4 performance.  He also added four runs batted in for the Saints.  Craig Brisson went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a run batted in, while Josh Tate and Brad Hall each picked up a pair of hits in the victory.

D.J. Decker led Georgia Southwestern at the plate collecting a pair of hits, while Brian Gartley suffered the loss on the mound, pitching a complete game and allowing seven runs off of 10 hits.

The two teams square off Sunday afternoon in a doubleheader to conclude the series.
