NORTH GEORGIA SWEPT BY LANDER IN SEASON FINALE

Greenwood, SC – North Georgia College and State University led early in game one but fell 4-3 in the ninth inning, and Lander put all the pieces together in game 2 as they shut out the Saints 3-0 for the series sweep.

In game one, North Georgia (32-29, 9-18 PBC) fell behind in the first inning against Lander (31-22, 13-14 PBC) on a single by Adam Hutchins that plated Kevin Davis for a 1-0 lead. Both pitchers set down the opposing teams until the fourth inning when North Georgia broke through with a single to left off the bat of Anders Oster to score Josh Tate and Creston Warner for a 2-1 Saints lead. Later in the inning, Brian Lauderdale would use a sacrifice fly to score Oster and extend the Saints lead to 3-1.

Lander fought back with single runs in the sixth and seventh off RBI hits from Radley Raven and Davis to tie the game 3-3.

In the bottom of the ninth inning North Georgia pitcher Zach Black found himself in danger with the bases loaded and two outs. Black ran the count full on Ryan Brisby who took the next pitch low for ball four, forcing home the game-winning run and giving Lander a 4-3 win in game one.

North Georgia starter Tom Bradley allowed three runs on 11 hits in 6.2 innings. He struck out two and walked two. Black (6-3) grabs the loss as he allowed one run on two hits while walking three and fanning two in two innings. Jake Hover (4-5) went the distance for the victory, allowing three runs on five hits while walking two and striking out two.

In game two, The Bearcats jumped on top with Gabe McCann's sixth homer of the season, a shot over the right-field fence in the bottom of the third. In the sixth, James Compo hit an RBI single and Hutchins lifted a sacrifice fly to center to give the Bearcats a 3-0 win in seven innings.

Lauderdale had another day to remember as he ended his career in a Saints uniform with a 4-4 outing. Lauderdale finished an astounding 10-for-11 in the three-game series.

Cory Gilleland (3-6) picks up the loss for the Saints as he tossed six innings, allowed four hits, three runs, and struckout two. Chris Munn (10-3) pitched a seven-hit shutout. He walked four and struck out seven.
