SEA WARRIORS SWEEP SAINTS
Honolulu, Hawaii – The HPU baseball team put great pitching and great hitting together today, sweeping North Georgia College and State University, 10-4, and 10-1, at Han's L'Orange Park in Waipahu.
With the sweep, the Sea Warriors improved to 5-5 overall on the season, while the Saints fall to 3-3.
Brandon Muser was masterful in the nightcap, scattering five hits, and allowing just one earned run. The southpaw struck out five and walked three for his first win of the season. He also got great run support, led by Brandon Sato (2-3, 2B, 3 RBI), Grandon Costa (2-3, 2 2B), and Gavin Concepcion (2-4). Tyler Jefferson scored three times, and Colton Silva also finished with two runs batted in.
In game one, the Sea Warriors jumped out to a commanding 9-0 lead after the first two innings. Silva drove in three runs, while Concepcion finished 2-3 with two runs batted in. Danny Lee also added a two-run double in HPU's four-run second inning. Spencer Omalza got the win, allowing eight hits and four runs (three earned) in five innings of work. He struck out six and walked just two, evening his record at 1-1 on the year.
For the Saints, senior Ryan Gurley went 3-4 in the first game with a run scored and freshman Anders Oster was 2-3 in the second game. Senior Dusty Tate scored two runs in the double header and batted .500.
The series concludes tomorrow with the final doubleheader set to begin at 11:00 a.m. at Han's L'Orange Park.
