ANDERSON'S WALK-OFF LEADS GCSU OVER NORTH GEORGIA
Milledgeville, Georgia – Creston Warner was 3-for-3 with a home run, double, and one RBI to lead the Saints, but a walk-off three run home run to right field capped a four run ninth inning as Georgia College & State University stole a thrilling 6-3 victory over North Georgia College & State University Friday night at John Kurtz Field.
North Georgia started the scoring in the second inning as Kyle Potts delivered an RBI single to chase home Warner for a 1-0 lead. GCSU tied it in the third on an RBI single from Mike DeVeaux. The Saints once again took the lead in the fourth inning on a solo home run off the bat of Warner for a 2-1 advantage. The Bobcats tied things up in the sixth in an RBI single from Giuseppe Rivas.
The Saints regained the lead in the top of the eighth as Brian Lauderdale stole home, just beating the tag at the plate by Bobcat catcher, Tripp Burt, to give North Georgia a 3-2 lead.
In the bottom of the ninth the Bobcats evened the score on Rich Janofksy’s infield single which brought home pinch-runner Sean Harrell from second base. Hans Stancil drew a two out walk to put the game winning run at second base. Brandon Anderson stepped to the plate and crushed his fifth home run of the season over the right field wall to end the game for a 6-3 Bobcat victory.
Mark Thomas falls to 5-3 on the year as he took the loss after being charged with two runs on three hits in 1.1 innings. Michael Newman improves to a perfect 9-0 as he picked up the win in relief after holding the Saints scoreless on one hit in one inning.
The Bobcats and Saints continue their three game series with a double-header starting at 1p.m. on Saturday, April 15.
