#7 SAINTS SWEEP REDHAWKS WITH 11-1 WIN

Dahlonega, Ga. – Seventh ranked North Georgia College & State University scored six runs in the sixth inning in rout to an 11-1 win over Martin Methodist College on a cold Wednesday afternoon.

The Redhawks (7-11) got on the board first and jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Junior pinch hitter Alan Lindsey (Columbia, Tenn.) scored off of a sacrifice fly from junior catcher Mark Nichting (Hamilton, Ohio). The single run in the second inning was the only run Saints (21-9) sophomore starter Michael Whiting (Gainesville, Ga.) would allow in his seven innings of work.

North Georgia tied the game in the fourth inning and then exploded for six runs off of four hits in the sixth inning. Junior left fielder Ryan Gurley (Jefferson, Ga.) got the inning started with a one out single to center field and later scored on a three RBI double from junior second baseman Brian Lauderdale (Roswell, Ga.). The Saints scored two more runs off of a walk and wild pitch and an RBI single from junior first baseman Brett Leja (Miami, Fla.).

In the seventh inning, North Georgia put three more runs on the board after Lauderdale drove in freshman pinch runner Todd Reeves (Suwanee, Ga.). Lauderdale later scored on a bases loaded walk and senior short stop Kevin Bulger (Snellville, Ga.) scored on a double-play from third to make the score 10-1.

The Saints ended the game with a one out single to right field by Bulger to score freshman center fielder Ryan Seay (Dawsonville, Ga.) to close out the game in the eighth.

Whiting is now 3-0 after scattering seven hits and allowing only one earned run and striking out four batters.
