#7 SAINTS TAKE CARE OF PANTHERS IN DOUBLEHEADER

Dahlonega, Ga. – The seventh ranked Saints of North Georgia College & State University (5-0) put up good offensive numbers once again today as they defeated Claflin University (0-2) 12-2 and 9-2 at a chilly NGCSU Baseball Complex.

Game 1

The Saints wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning as they scored two runs. North Georgia exploded for 6 runs in the third innings. Junior shortstop Kyle Potts (Jefferson, Ga.) led the rally with a two RBI double in the inning. The Saints put two runs on the board in the sixth and eighth inning before the game was called due to weather.

Junior starter Stephen Flake (Marietta, Ga.) picked his second win of the season, pitching six strong innings and striking out six batters. Freshman starter Lance Miller (Chester, S.C.) picked up his first loss of the season after going seven innings and striking out two.

The Panthers drew first blood in game two in the first inning after freshman designated hitter Eric Jordan (Walterboro, S.C.) scored on a fielder's choice. North Georgia came right back and scored a run in the first to tie the game. With the score 4-1 in the fifth inning, the Saints bats heated up the field with five runs. Senior right fielder Richie Daigle (Alpharetta, Ga.) led the assault with three RBI's and one home run.

Senior starter Justin Stowe (Marietta, Ga.) got the win after pitching six and a third innings and striking out 12 batters. Freshman starter Ed Paul (Manning, S.C.) took the loss and is 0-1 on the season.

If weather permits, these two teams will finish out the series on Sunday in a game scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
