#22 SAINTS TAKE FIRST GAME OF SSAC SERIES 8-1 Dahlonega, Ga. – The 22nd ranked North Georgia College & State University baseball team got all eight runs in the first three innings of the game and cruised to a 8-1 win over Brewton-Parker College Saturday afternoon. The Saints (36-10, 17-8) picked up two runs in the first inning off of an RBI ground out from sophomore third baseman Justin Rickett (Cumming, Ga.) and a sacrifice fly from senior right fielder Richie Daigle (Alpharetta, Ga.). A single run was scored in the second inning off of another sacrifice fly from junior second baseman Brian Lauderdale (Roswell, Ga.) to put North Georgia up 3-0. In the third inning, the Saints rallied to put five runs on the board with two outs in the inning. A walk and a hit batsman put two runners on before freshman center fielder Ryan Seay (Dawsonville, Ga.) singled up the middle to score the first two runs. A two RBI double from junior catcher David Chastain (Canton, Ga.) added two more runs, followed by a double from Lauderdale to score the final run. All five runs scored in the inning were unearned. The Barons (21-20, 14-11) single run was scored in the eighth inning after senior center fielder Chris Brown (Bowdon, Ga.) scored off of a fielder's choice. BPC struggled at the plate and were held to only five hits in the ball game. Junior starting pitcher Stephen Flake (Marietta, Ga.) pitched seven innings to pick up his fifth win of the season and drop his ERA down to 0.98. He allowed only four hits and struck out five batters. Freshman starter Odie Tomberlin (Surrency, Ga.) took the loss after pitching seven innings and allowing three earned runs off of seven hits.
