BASEBALL RANKED SIXTH IN LATEST NAIA POLL
Dahlonega, Ga. – The North Georgia College & State University baseball team continues to move up the chart as they posted a 3-1 record last week and are ranked sixth in this week's NAIA National Rankings.
The Saints (56-13) defeated two NCAA Division II schools last week by a combined score of 34-7. North Georgia took care of North Greenville College 13-3 at home and swept Presbyterian College 8-4 and 13-0 on Sunday and Monday. The Saints only loss came against Peach Belt Conference member Lander University on the road as the Bearcats won 12-7.
The ranking also marks the highest ranking North Georgia has received all season. The Saints formal high ranking was their preseason ranking of seventh. With one more poll before the final ranking, North Georgia will look to continue to move up the rankings as they play in the NAIA Region XIII Tournament next week.
For the second straight week, Lewis-Clark State is the number one team in the nation. LCS received three more first place votes this week and remained six points ahead of second ranked Houston Baptist. Embry-Riddle remained in third place, but only received one first place vote this week.
Southern States Athletic Conference rival Lee University kept its 10th place ranking after posting a 3-1 record. The Flames will also participate in the Region XIII Tournament next week, hosted by 22nd ranked LSU Shreveport.
